Dell studio xps 1640 laptop, can it be upgraded

Hey

I was wondering if it would be possible and or worthwhile to upgrade my laptop.

Its a Dell Sudio Xps 1640.
Intel Core Duo P8600 @2.4 ghz
8 gb ram
64 bit OS, Windows Vista
ATI mobility Radeon HD 3670

Now, I havent taken it apart and dont want to do that just yet until I figure out if its worth while or not.

Would a SSD be a breath of new life or is it even compatable?
Upgrading Vista to Win 7 might work too.

Anyone upgraded one of these before?
Budget is less than 200 and I wont be doing it for another month or so. (If at all if its not worth doing).

If its BGA479 its soldered on, PGA478 its replaceable.

Notebook check say http://ark.intel.com/products/35563 is the top supported chip for that model, so should work. Not a huge increase.


A samsung 830/840Pro plus 7 would probably give you a nice new lease of life though.
