But not able to afford the very top tier. What's a good value option that's a bit cheaper?

    Specifically looking for:
    - long battery life
    - not a huge/heavy phone
    - can do all the usuals, browse, watch vids etc
    - would like a decent camera but doesn't need to be great

battery life is probably the most important

    Budget?

Less than 300 to buy sim free or less than 200 to buy with a good bill pay deal (25 a month or less)

If I was you I would consider the samsung galaxy s 2.

Should be able to get it cheaply as its quite old now but still a very good phone.

That's exactly what I'm using now but it's 2 years old. Good phone as you said but the battery is failing. I could replace the battery but I figure I might be better off getting a new model because if I sort the battery something else might go wrong.

    Considering the S3 mini now.

If size isn't an issue go for the s3. Very good phone again, battery can be swapped out aswel so you will never be short of power.

Just upgraded to Samsung galaxy express, similar in size to s2, e139 for upgrade with emobile. Think they are around e300 payg.

Motorola Razr i is a lot better than galaxy S3 mini.
Possibly the best battery life of any android on the market.
