Pulled out this album seen as Summer was in full Swing, It's the definite Summer indie album and I think it's the band's career highpoint. It's a Greatest hit's in all but name. Walking Barefoot (never released as a single), Burn Baby Burn and Shining Light are the best song's Tim Wheeler's every written. Sometimes There's a Star and Candy were other great singles released from the album. Even though Tim Wheeler was never the best singer, it never took away from the songs . It got to number 1 in the UK and did make them a biggish band for a while.

1977 hold's a special in the heart but it's not a fuller experience as FAA. Sadly they never could top FAA for me, even during the time of The Strokes IS this It and The White Stripes White Blood Cell's. I still put FAA up there with them as the album's of 2001. Sad to see them play small venue's instead big gigs seen as FAA and 1977 should have set them up as an arena act for life.

Anyone a Fan of Free All Angels?

Great album, 2 of their first 3 albums I still listen to regularly to this day.

For me it was the soundtrack to that summer of 2001, lost interest in them since then though.

Their follow up albums have been disappointing apart from the odd single here and there. A-Z collection had some good singles but a lot of average was probably their last decent release.

Definitely. I had it blasting in the garden during the heatwave, a more perfect album for those days I could not find.

    It's a good album but I prefer 1977

FAA and 1977 are 2 albums I haven't listened to in about 10 years, have to dig them out and see if they stood the test of time. At the time I thought Shining Light was the best song ever.
But just looking at the track listings I think 1977 is the better album. Goldfinger is still a great song.

1977 all the way but Free All Angels is super too. "A Life Less Ordinary" is in my top three songs of theirs and often gets forgotten as it wasn't on an album.

They're playing here in Australia over the next fortnight, 1977 in its entirety then a selection of other songs. I'm out of the country though, absolutely gutted. Haven't seen them since the Olympia in 2001 :(

I think it's that Beach boy influence FAA has that gives it the nod over 1977 for me. I think 1977 has one of two below par songs. While FAA imo is flawless. Still think both albums are their highpoints.

I've seen them so many times over the years, a bit like Supergrass (who I saw like 10 times). But yeah was at that Olympia gig in 2001, probably their best gig for me.

Life Less Ordinary wasn't it the first release with Charlotte Hatherley. The Hatherley years were them at peak form. Was listening to Intergalactic Sonic 7s their greatest hit's set their recently and wow it's just perfect from first song to the last.

A Great track they left off FAA that you can find on the Cosmic Debris B-side album that came with Intergalactic Sonic 7s was Warmer then Fire. I know it was a cover but it's sad they left it off FAA cause it's such a wonderful track.

Cracking night, they were supported by Seafood who are another criminally underrated band from the early 2000s.

Twas yeah, she was only about 18 at the time too I think.

Uncle Pat is another belter of a tune by them.

Ahhhhh Seafood, completely forgot about them.

Great album in 2001 was 'When do we start fighting?', 'Western Battle' and 'Cloaking were terrfic tunes

I was all about 'Splinter' myself, fantastic song. Pity David Line became so ill otherwise I think they could have been bigger.

The subsequent albums were very good too and I still play them all regularly.

2001 was 12 years ago, that makes me feel extremely old :(

Mmm Seafood were decent, they cancelled twice on me though.

Remember seeing Ash supported by Muse at the Heineken Green Energy Weekend in Galway in 2001, then quickly getting the bus down to Cork to see the following nights leg!

Got to see them sound check, amazing amazing summer that was!
