I'm currently trying to organise a society outing for approx. 25 lads for a saturday in mid-october.
Our criteria includes (obviously) a round of golf on a "decent" course , accomadation and evening meal in a reasonable standard hotel and finally a close proximity to a large town with a fair few pubs/niteclub.
Need to keep the cost down where possible.
Anybody heard of any deals to play'n'stay at any resorts ?

Kilkenny would be ideal ... Gowran Kilkenny & Callan to choose from...

Kilkenny is the Stag & Hen Capital of Ireland... enough said ............

Depending on a hell of a lot of things, (mainly distance to get there) Carne/Belmullet might be an option.
If you're not based in Belmullet, it'll be a nice drive from anywhere else ;)

Course is meant to be top class. Belmullet is meant to be a great spot for a night.
I think there's an hotel associated/some kinda link with the course that does golf deals.

Maybe aim for headfort in kells. Can stay in the headfort arms hotel & play the old & new course.

Not a million miles from some night life either

Had an outing in Knightsbrook Golf & Country Club Trim what a week end would highly recommend it.

We did a trip to Killarney 2 or 3 years ago. Played Mahoney's Point on the Saturday and Killeen on the Sunday. Went out in Killarney on Saturday night. It was a cracking weekend and we got a great deal. There's also a third course there (Lackabane).

If Killarney isn't too far for you to travel then I would definitely recommend it.

Fairly sure lackabane closed this year.

Carton House, and a night out in Maynooth.
    Portmarnock Links and Malahide.
    Lough Erne and Enniskillen.

Use yourgolftravel.com for better prices (though you need to pay it all up front).

I'd agree with Knightsbrook. Class hotel, excellent course and on the one time we went there for a society, we were very surprised with the liveliness of Trim on the Sat night.

Headfort definitely. I think they even do packages for societies to play golf and stay in the Headfort Arms hotel.

What about Mullingar. Multiple hotels to choose from, excellent course to play golf and Sat night is usually very lively around Mullingar with loads of pubs / restaurants.

Very easy access from Dublin too.

Kilkenny, we played our society captains prize there, stayed in kilkenny and the course in kilkenny is top notch, gowran and callan are also two great courses.
otherwise mount wolsley is a great course. what sort of budget are you looking at?
