Engine oil for a Peugeot 206

    I bought some discounted oil - 10W40, semi-synthetic, ACEA A3, B3 and API-SL, CF - for the GFs 3-door Peugeot 206, 1.4L 2001.

The handbook says that the minimum grade oil must be ACEA A3 -96 and API-SH/SJ.

Is API-SL, CF good enough? Thanks!

API-SL is a later spec to SH and SJ and would be a better oil to use. I think SM is the latest spec.

The oil you have should be perfect. Does the handbook say 10W40, btw?

Edit: Seems to be 5W40 specified. If it was me, I'd probably go ahead with the 10W40 anyway.

10W40 is what's specified. That's great. It cost €12.50 for 4 litres from Halfords. Bargain.
