The igniter might be faulty if you can hear the gas? Its obvious, but have you tried lighting it with a lighter or naked flame ?

    the ignitor is faulty

    i use a lighter

i tried it a good few times on 2 rings but i'm not too fond of messing with gas

Make sure the black caps are sitting on the rings properly anyway. Remove them and sit them back in place.

Has it been connected to the bottle outside while you were not using it. If not the connector might have gotten some water in it. Try that give it a good shake to let the water out.
