I'm building a PC and need assistance selecting parts. I am fairly set on using a 4gb gtx 770 video card and the most recent Intel I7 Processor.

The following parts are what I was looking at getting:
    Intel I7-4770k
    Gigabyte Geforce GTX 770 4gb
    Gigabyte Z87X-D3H, ATX

Where I could use the most help I think is with everything else (particularily the PSU), If you could give me any suggestions/alteratives it would be greatly appreciated.

    RAM:
    Case:
    Cooling:
    PSU:

    1. What is your budget?
    ~€1500 Inc. monitor

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?
Primarily Gaming, will also likely be running 3d modelling software.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows?
    yes.

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer?
    No.

    5. Do you need a monitor?
Yes, but I have already selected the BenQ XL2411T.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking?
Not initially, with the setup I'm aiming for I shouldn't need to for a while.

    8. How can you pay?

    Paypal/Creditcard

    9. When are you purchasing?
    Within the next few weeks.

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Limerick, but I shouldn't require any assistance building it.

Also I'v seen from looking in other threads the user "BloodBath" arranged all his part recommendations in a neat little table, Is there a way to import this directly from hardwareversand or do you have to do this manually?

There's no reason for a 4GB 770. Maybe in a high res build, but in such a case you'd need 2 anyways, and the price premium with have 4GB cards would almost justify 780s.

i74770(k) is total overkill. A 4670k/Macho 02 combo would be the way to go.

There is a very significant price difference between the 4gb 770 and the 780.
The reason I want a 4gb 770 is to save me headaches when I eventually SLI down the road (rather than buy an entirely new card) and find that 2gb just won't cut it anymore, even at a normal resolution.

The price difference between the 2gb and 4gb cards is not enough for me to want to have to deal with it in the long run.

You are right that the I7 is currently overkill, But I don't mind. I'd rather spend the money now while I have it to spare.

Do you have any advice for the rest of it?

4670k (i5) is currently overkill, and will be overkill or games for a long time to come. Graphics cards is where most bottlenecks come in. At 1080p (I assume this is what you mean by "normal" resolution) 2GB will continue to be more than sufficient.

If we assume that I'm a stubborn jackass and won't listen to reason. (no matter how reasonable it may be.)

What is your advice for the rest of the setup?

Have you bought that monitor yet? You could easily build a 1440p rig for that money.

no, I was going to just buy it right away, but decided to wait to save on shipping.

I would rather have a 120hz monitor than play at a higher resolution. (unless I can have the best of both worlds) What would you recommend?

    edit:
Also I'd quite like to run a double monitor setup if it not too inconvenient to set up, I'm assuming it just adds to the resolution horizontally and that I'd just run games windowed at the standard res. I wouldn't want to have to buy a 2nd 120hz monitor though, are there issues with running dual monitors at different refresh rates?

€1500 is pretty much entry level for 1440p gaming when you need windows and the monitor but it's definitely doable to a high standard. This is a bit over budget but you could change the cards to a pair of 660ti's. There is a site selling good models for less than €200 each. I don't have the link but hopefully someone else sticks it up. I'm not sure if the deep silence 2 has the 6 channel fan controller It's probably worth spending the extra €10 for the deep silence 1.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-3570K Box, LGA1155|€201.87
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€29.68
    ASRock Z77 Extreme3, Sockel 1155, ATX|€107.09
    8GB-Kit A-DATA XPG G Series PC1600 CL9|€60.59
    2 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 WindForce 3X OC, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort|€484.38
    Samsung SSD 840 120GB SATA 6Gb/s|€85.04
    WD Caviar Blue 1TB 6Gb's|€56.94
    Samsung SH-224BB bare schwarz|€16.77
Nanoxia Deep Silence Two Dark Black, ohne Netzteil|€83.02
be quiet! SYSTEM POWER 7 700W|€79.71
    MS Windows 8 64bit (SB-Version) Englisch|€89.00
LogiLink SATA Anschlusskabel mit Sicherungslasche, 0.5m|€1.39
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€1314.47

A lot of people on this forum have been buying this monitor lately. There is a post on this forum with lots of happy customers. It's supposed to be overclockable to 120hz as well. It's easy to add more monitors. I assume you want 1 for gaming and another for web pages/videos. You don't want to be gaming on 2 monitors as the borders of both monitors will be the center of your screen.

    Monitor €233 + roughly €40 customs charges.

There are Asus 660tis available on Amazon for 180 pounds. They might be worth it over the 760s based off the money saved.

A pair of 7870's would also be great value to get the cost down and would handle 1440p no problem. Once overclocked they wouldn't be far off 660ti performance. Amd have sorted crossfire performance in the latest drivers. If you can afford it I'd go with the Asus 660ti's.

    Asus 660ti

    Sapphire 7870

With good cooling on perhaps a deep silence one (add some 1100rpm scythes onto the fan controller) you'd have a cool, quiet case for overclocking those 7870s quite a bit. This also allows you to stay within the budget a lot more easily.

    thanks guys, you're lifesavers.

I have no real use for a disk drive other than installing windows, are the digital versions of windows more expensive than buying of a site like this? and What's the difference between the oem & sb versions of windows?

Those cases are really nice. I was trawling through the lists of cases and all I could find were giant moulded plastic monstrositys filled with so many xmas lights that they made my eyes hurt just looking at photos of them.

    No bother.

You can ditch the dvd drive and go with the digital copy if you want. Windows installs much faster from a usb stick anyway. The oem versions can only be installed on the same hardware, they are not transferable to different hardware setups although there are ways around this afaik. The legality of this is questionable though.

Yeah the nanoxia's are great. I wish they were there when I did my rig. You might as well go for the deep silence 1. There's a few colors. Throw in an extra 3 of these as well.

That will make 6 case fans all controllable with the 2 channel fan controller.

The 140mm Nanoxia fan in my case is great, they are very quiet, even at full speed. The 120mm ones as front intakes don't push a ton of air due to being behind a case door and being behind a dust filter, and then having to push air through the HDD cage.

Apparently the case has a floor mount, but I don see it really ^^ (not one that makes sense anyways).

Take the unused cages out and there's nothing blocking the intakes. Moving a 2 of 3 drive cage beside the psu and leaving the front open completely is probably the best way to go.

I'm still tempted to sell my Chaser and grab a Nanoxia.

I have removed the slots. But the skeleton is still there. I can't remove the entire thing can I? I definitely would if I could.

If it's the deep silence 1 you can. If it's the 2 you can't.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I only need 2 slots really, and have 8. Currently only have an SSD in there.
