Trip to Majorca

I normally book my holidays through a travel agent, but my family is after getting bigger over recent years 2Ad + 4 children, and its so expensive now, so were looking at doing it ourself, booking out own flight, then try find a place to stay, either a hotel or villa, and transfers from the airport,

As I've never done this before, not sure where to start looking for villas/hotels etc,or even how to arrange transport at the other end, has anybody got any tips etc or good places to go, not far from palma airport in Majorca,

Much cheaper to book yourself.
Try airbnb.com, plenty of accomo on that. For transfers I always go with Balearic Transfer.

I usually book hotels via booking.com and book my airport transfers in advance, e.g. via suntransfers or ABC transfers, but there are plenty of other companies like that. You'll have to spend a bit of time comparing prices, but you can save a lot of money by booking everything separately.

Has anybody ever used that AIRBNB site as mentioned above ? prices are great, look to good to be true, and as I said I've never booked everything seperate so Im little wary about the site ,,, should I be ?
its coming up like €200 a week in the middle of July/Aug for 6people, surely something fishy is it ?

I've friends that have all used it successfully across all parts of Europe and the US. I only heard about it recently too but intend to make full use of it for a big trip next year across the US.
Also 200e sounds a little too good... make sure you are looking at the total and not the per night

i advertise on AIRBNB, you should enquire and make sure that the owner has updated their prices for summer 2014. AIRBNB holds onto your money and only passes it on to the owner 24 hours after you check into a property, so a safe way to book

i advertise on all these holiday sites, my preferred one is holidaylettings, owned by trip advisor, so you get the reviews too

the irish website is very good too....holidayhomesdirect.ie
