    pacman ice cube trays?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Oh sorry, they are stupid expensive. BUT if the nights do well I will totally get them, and the space invaders ones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 332 ✭✭Simon_K

Grab some food coloring as well, colored ice is awesome :)

    Yellow coloured ice?
Are we not conditioned not to eat it, in case it's made of snow the dog has p1ssed on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

I have a Space Invader tray... once the cubes are in your glass you wouldn't know what they are though.

My new oven seems to be pretty nice though, so I might be able to make a successful Sapce Invader cake now.

So this is tonight. It's free. It starts at 7PM and its going to be every Thursday this month. What I will be setting up is a games donation bucket. If you have doubles or old games for ANY system that you don't want then throw them in the bucket. Someone may have some fun playing them on one of the nights.
Doesn't matter what console or system the game is for, I have mega plans to expand the system range so your old dirt games will find a use!
Donating games is completely optional and no one will hassle you if you don't. In fact no one will know as the bucket will be unguarded!

The CDi is certainly one way of clearing everyone out after last orders.

Rest of the meets are off.

Fun night, couldn't stay late because I had to work early today!

I assumed it would be upstairs where the last gaming event I was at was, downstairs is waaaay more suited to it.

pics please, this thing could really take off, missed it ahgain, gutted

Really enjoyed the gaming night yesterday. A lot of decent consoles available and a good atmosphere throughout. I can't see myself making it every week (that's life for ya) but at least once a month should be manageable.

Fair play OP, you're on to a winner here.

OK, so... this was amazing :) met some awesome people and played many nostalgic games. Great job bombibol! Hopefully there will be more tournaments next time, cause the KOF one was hype! :D

    A - m - a - z - i - n - g night-out in the pub thanks to bombidol and the crew.
Thank you for organizing this, had a great time.

Thanks for G-Potato crew for supplying some nice swag for the winners.

My highlights would include tons of SF2Turbo matches on SNES, Powerstone 2 (DC) and Tekken 2 :D:D was even able to win my free pint from barman Andy and he means business with Heihachi. :D

(to all that I played that night - I was the guy in Sonic tee)

Ginger rum FTW. I will be there next week most likely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

    Sounds like it went well.

Unfortunately I fell into a 5 hour nap when I got home from work yesterday and missed it.

Will definitely make the next one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Thanks everyone. Was a lot of fun and we got some decent numbers in the door. Last night was the dry run to see what would happen. LOADS of stuff went belly up ( Like the black and white N64!)
Word of advice. NEVER buy a cheap universal remote. Took 3 hours to tune 1 TV in.
I had a lot of fun and I have even more consoles for next week. The layout will be slightly different too. Hope to see you all next Thurs!

I think the table in the middle didn't work out too well, it was hard to go from one end of the room to the other. The xbox/nes had the best set up IMO - easy to access and lots of space for players.

To be honest. The table in the middle was a last minute add on as I had nowhere to put Retropolis, hes back next week in a better position.

Next weeks event is sponsored by Glendalough craft Poitin and we will have a load of it to give away. Winner of the tournament (Possibly Super Mario Kart) gets a bottle to bring home.

Yup we are back on this Thursday from 7PM till 11.30PM (ish) All free.

Remember we have the games donation box set up this week so drag in some stuff you dont use anymore and throw it in.
Also, looking for a loan of some Master System controllers for the night if anyone can help.

Also, any suggestions for the tournament this week? Im torn between Super Mario Kart and Pit Fighter on Megadrive. But will accept other suggestions too!

Jeez, Mario Kart all the way. Pit Fighter is truly awful, though maybe in a games night environment it would take on a new lease of life ala Dinorex :D

I vote for Hungry Hungry Hippos.

This is what happens when it's added to the mix:

I remember watching a fighting game tournament once and they were showing the guys playing a hungry hungry hippos tournament in a box while the Tekken tournament was on because it's such a dull game to watch :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,090 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

Was the same tournament I just posted the video from.

    Midwest Championships 2011 I think.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,872 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

Pit Fighter is graphically so bad I don't think people watching could get excited about it. There's bad bad then there is BAD bad...
