Hi guys, I have a date for my full test in just over a month. I think I really need to get some driving experience before the test and have been looking a buying a car up north. Problem is that I don't know how to go about It, can I get insured on a UK reg car even though I have a provisional licience. Do I need to use an Irish insurer or or UK insurer? I'm not worried about taxing the car in Ireland because I will be moving up north in January.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'd advise against doing this, the car for your test needs to be road legal in ROI, the same applies to all other times.

You can't do the test in a foreign registered car. It must have Irish plates, tax, insurance disk and NCT (if old enough).
