Shingles Vaccine (Zostavax) Anyone tried it?

I first got shingles 7 years ago and have had periodic bouts since then. This year, so far, it's hit me three times.

Thank God, it doesn't cause me much problems - no pain, headaches, nausea etc., but I'm fed up with it at this stage.

Anyone tried the Zostavax vaccine? It'd be great to hear how you got on. How much does it cost. The last lot of tablets I got (name ???) cost over €200 ...as a friend said, "At that price, you should be winning races...not just running!) :D

I'm due to see my GP, for a regular visit, in about 6 weeks, and will discuss the vaccine then, but it'd be great to have some basic info going in.

Plenty of views on this post, but no responses. Maybe the info below will be of use to someone, all the same.

Final word on the topic - a Pharmacist friend has enlightened me somewhat:
Zostavax: This product is licensed in Ireland, but nobody has taken up the license. Therefore it is NOT available in Ireland at the mo'
An alternative is Varivax. This costs approx. €53 and must be administered twice, 4 to 8 weeks apart, so 2 x €53 + GP fees. It is not covered under the DRP scheme.

As I vaguely understand it, a new vaccine has beeen approved by the EU in 2018, and the vaccation lasts for 5 years. Wondering about the 2018 approx cost (at a GP, rather than pharmacy).
