reseeded 10 acres but grass scarce

I reseeded 10 acres in the middle of april and the new grass only came fair. It is very light in places although there is no skips. I have it grazed tight since but there isn't any improvement. was going to throw out another 3 bags of grass seed over the area to fill it up and roll. will this work if I throw the grass seed on top of the bare ground as I don't want to have to be ploughing, power harrowing it again?

photos please so we can make some sort of informed judgement, grasseed on top can be hit and miss. Might look bare but may well be enough plants there. Some CCC to thicken maybe?? Is there enough nutrients in the ground as lots of plants were under serious stress at the moment

I cant take any photos unfortunately. what is ccc. the ground is index 4 for p+k. lime would be down but gave it 2 bags of gran lime when seeding and 2 bags of 10.10.20 and gave it a further 2 bags of 10.10.20 after 6 weeks and have been giving it just straight can since. thinking I might go with a light coat of slurry if it dries up but at the same time thinking of going with extra grass seed. Dissapointed with it so far as I want to move on and reseed another 10 acres at the end of august but want this field to be growing 100% first

slurry I would say is your friend and if you want to scatter a few grass seeds on before, do it. your problems lye with the weather during the last few months

Graze with sheep as well, apparently as good as CCC.

That is the one, it promotes tillering in crops as well.

Have used it this year on SB and done a great job to it.

CCC is just growth regulator, which thickens crops. dont even think its approved for grass but sure - we all make mistakes. It promotes tillering of the plant and I have often used it on a sparse wheat crop and it has made a super job of it.

Nash - do you not use CCC routinely?

I'm 80% sure it is not approved for grass.

Tillage crops around here, Bob, did not like that cold April and came out very sparse and thin and needed some liquid magic.

For SB, this was the first year using CCC but regularly use TE's and Croplift.

    Angel dust for crops -;)

Are you sure it wasnt the drought affected it after you grazed? Paddocks here took a few weeks to recover as they were nearly burnt but they are flying now.

Had this problem last year but it was because of the rain. at the time i had no idea what to do but i noticed this year that the clover grew like mad and because of that the grass followed and have a great coverage now. Where last year i had very little in the swarth, check to see that the clover is growing. It could just be that the fine weather stunted it for the first year like the rain did to mine last year. Could just need time and a little rain maybe
