Annual herd test

The vet tested my herd yesterday. Over the years the date of the test has got earlier and earlier because we always opted to get it over and done with. As a result it is now at an awkward time and when I have the silage and that finished up the test is always the next obstacle to work towards kinda spoiling the summer having to plan my grazing and after grass around getting all cattle gathered up . Just wondering is it possible to move the test to spring time or any other time of year when cattle are all housed.

It is. My neighbour has done this. He does the annual test before letting the cattle out of the shed in the spring. Ring the DVO and explain what you want to do.

Ya we changed or date this year. Much easier to go early than late though
Prob have to go ahead with your test this year as planed and adjust it next year.
If you do not test on your prescribed date you will start getting lots of letters but as I understand it you can push it out by up to 4wks but I know I would not like to go that route. Have a chat with your own vet about the regulations.

Just decide that what date would suit you best each year and stick to it.
