    Short story-
Due to go on hols. Five hours before check-in ,my wife was called into hospital A/E and asked for permission to resuscitate her mother if necessary ,also informed that the next 24/48 hours were critical and that she could die . We did not go on hols and we have since filled in all forms and supplied cancellation invoice ,proof of payment, etc, along with insurance medical-form filled in by hospital registrar stating her mother was brought in by ambulance suffering respiratory failure. Thankfully her mother is now recovering.
We have supplied everything they asked for, following numerous phone calls ,e-mails and letters, but now they want her mothers last two years medical records,or they will not process claim.

    Is this the norm?.

Mods ,please move ,if there is a better forum for answer

    Is this the norm?

I'm not sure there is any 'norm', every insurance company is different. However if you read the Ts &Cs of the policy, you will see mention of pre-existing conditions being excluded and it's obvious that the company is trying to see if your mother-in-law's recent health scare is related to a condition that existed at the time you took out the policy in which case they will probably refuse the claim.

My travel insurance company are asking to see a copy of my credit card statement where I paid for the flights and accommodation, as they believe my claim might be covered under the credit card company's insurance.

Surely that's none of their concern what other policies (Actually, I don't) have. Why don't they just process my claim?

    Regards.

Because they don't want to pay out a claim if you can claim elsewhere, your claim is for "loss" not for "value of holiday".
