Claud Butler Echelon or Giant defy 5 ?

Hey guys whichever bike I pick will be my first road bike used for decent milage everyday and for odd races. Can you guys tell me which bike is better and why here the links

I have a limit of €625 no more.If you know of better bikes in same price range refer them please.

Not much difference in the price. The Giant would be an easier bike to climb very steep hills with when you see the gearing 50/34 compared to the Claud's 52/39. Although the claud has carbon forks. Tough one. Not much help was I?

Do carbon forks make much of a difference on the smoothness of your ride ?
