Will you do a re-watch once it ends?

A few years ago, the answer would have been an obvious yes. But now, I'm nowhere near as convinced.

Whenever I finish a show like this, I give it a few months and then watch again from the start. I've watched Lost three times, and have already watched Breaking Bad the same amount of times. With another season still to go, it'll easily be watched five times over. X-Files I've watched twice in full, and a couple of times stopping at season seven. Loads of examples but I'll leave it at that.

Dexter however, I'm not sure I'll be able to watch it again. I cant see myself watching seasons 5 or 6 again, meaning I probably wont watch 7 or 8 either. Had it finished with season 4, it would be an obvious yes.

Will anyone here be rewatching once it's all said and done?

I love it, but I don't think it's the kind of show that particularly lends itself to repeat viewings.

Season 1 and 4 are the only two i would watch again. Season 4 is one of the best seasons of anything i have seen. Thinking back to that compared to what has gone on since is depressing.

    I've rewatched 1, 2 and 4 before, and I'll do it again I'm sure..
Doubt I'll be bothering with the rest, unless it's to see if I was wrong the first time around :P

To be fair, I always prefer watching in quick succession rather than an episode per week, so the recent half of the seasons might prove a bit more enjoyable that way anyway..?

Like others I'd probably rewatch Seasons 1 and 4,maybe 2 which wasn't too bad either. But its not the type of show I think you would be able to watch all the way through.

Agree with the two above posters. Would re-watch 1,2 and 4 again. Barely made it through season 3 and watching the latter seasons would probably just annoy me.

Perhaps; after all, season 1 was 8 years ago, and considering how poor the final season has been so far it'd make for an interesting case of compare & contrast to rewatch the very first year and see how much/little has changed since then.

Would watch season 1 and 4 again, in particular 1. Loved the Ice Trucker Killer. I couldn't get enough of that season. I thought season two was awful until about episode seven. Hated Lila.

For me, the real reason I don't think I'll watch re-runs of Dexter is because of Debra. I couldn't do it again. It's torture at times listening to her.

Season 8 has been so bad that I'm almost contemplating just dropping it even though the series is almost done. Definitely not a series I'll rewatch

Like House, it's not something I would consider being in my re watch category.

House is so clever though. Admittedly it suffers the same as Dexter in that it worsened over time but most of House season 1-4 is brilliant.

I challenge anybody to watch "Lines in the Sand" and "Half-wit" without bawling their eyes out. "House's Head" at the end of season 4 was gripping television and an episode I'll never forget.

Ive generally really liked all the seasons especially season 1 and 4 but unfortunately season 8 is really not doing it for me and is getting poorer with each episode.

After the last few episodes of season 8, there is no way I will watch Dexter again. It's become so lazily written and none of the characters are likeable. I think I even hate Dexter now :(

Jesus, couldn't get that scene out of my head for ages.

Season 1 is worth rewatching. Especially just to see how much edginess the character has lost over the seasons.

couldnt possibly consider it at the minute. maybe in a year or two ill revisit the first four series but other than that, no.

No, glad it's coming to an end tbh. Some of the earlier seasons were fantastic & got me hooked so that i am kind of enduring the rest. The best by miles for me was the one with The third rock from the sun guy as the target/nemesis.. maybe I'd re-watch that one on it's own but not the whole thing.

Maybe up to season 4, but then I'd just be depressed knowing what is to follow, so no, I couldn't bring myself to watch it again, I'm having trouble watching this season as it is.

They should have ended it on S4, it wouldn't have given massive closure on Dexter's life but it kind of would have brought things full circle to a certain extent.

Both Dexter and his son found in a
    pool of their Mother's blood

Season 4 has just started on CBS Action. Think im more interested in seeing that than the new episodes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,854 ✭✭✭Sinfonia

I'll watch S1, 2 and 4 fo' sho', maaaaybe season 3, just to see, because it used to be considered a bad one, so I wonder if it seems that bad now after what we've been subjected to.
But the recap at the beginning of S4 brings ya up to speed anyway.
Then whatever Clyde Phillips puts on reddit as his version of how the show would end post-season 4, I'll just go with that :P

When you look back season three actually wasn't bad at all. I kind of liked Miguel and his split personality.

I still remember that sinking feeling I had when Dexter killed Rudy and when he found Rita at the end of season four.

I also remember feeling totally shocked when Lundy died. I thought that was a great scene.

I feel so nostalgic for those old episodes and scenes.

What a travesty season eight has been.

Current season is disgracefully bad so far IMO. I think I'll be too bitter after it ends to constitute re-watching... :(

I never thought season 3 was as bad as made out. 5 and especially 6 were much worse. 8 looks like taking the prize though.

Yeah, i came across it by accident on the sky epg.
    Time - 22:00 to 23:05 (1 hour and 5 minutes long).
When - Monday 23rd September on CBS Action

Dirty Harry. Series 4, episode 5.
Razor-sharp drama series centring on a serial killer who also works for the police. Debra is an emotional wreck following the shooting, and Dexter is on the trail of the Trinity Killer.
    Director: Keith Gordon
Starring: Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez
    (2006, 5 Star)

This series & the last one , i only checked this forum to see what everyone else was saying about it, just to see if i wasnt the only one who thought it was so woeful!

I'm only watching this series out of pity as its left me disillusioned to respect it again

Was just saying it ...the first 2 seasons (season 2 only because of Doakes and Season 4 because of Lithgow). Every season onwards is just a blur after that.
Can't ever see myself rewatching Dexter unlike BSG etc.

Season 6 is the worst of the lot by some distance.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

I really disliked 3 the most, though I would admit that it's not actually as bad as season 5. Season 4 is the untouchable finest hour, and I have to say I really enjoyed season 7 for Stevenson. Quinn and Dexter was the most underrated thread across the seasons, and should have been an entire season in itself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭meoklmrk91

I think ill rewatch it, atleast the first 4 anyway, because I remember how exited I was to see the conclusion of the fist season, addictive, it was so good, it was lost but tbf, when Dexter was good it was ****ing excellent.

Don't know how I'll deal with Rita though, I despised her, she annoyed the living daylights out of me and I was delighted when they killed her off. Only to be rewarded with 4 crap seasons, the lumen one was the only half way decent one in the last 4, and even at that it was barely passable.

I'll watch 1 - 4 again, but I may skip three after a few episodes. I don't have too fond memories of it.

I miss the way in the earlier episodes, Dexter would spend time with his targets to see if they fit the code - the car salesman, the psychiatrist, the coyote...stalking them in plain sight. It was brilliant.

I loved the little Chino 'mini' battle too.

I realise a time comes when the code would have to be altered, things get in the way etc, but the likes of the airport killing in season 7 and the total lack of interest in other targets throughout the latter seasons made the the show pretty average at best.

Watched the finale last night. I feel a little hard done by. What a disappointment.
