Adapting smallish sitting-room into bedroom

Hi again,

We are going to change our small sitting-room into a bedroom and it's proving tricky as we have a fireplace in there and it's a smallish space. It also has a nice wooden floor which we would like to keep.

With space limited, would anyone have any ideas on how to create ambience and a nicer, homely, feel for the room? It is also to suit an elderly person which is making it a bit tougher.

We've taken out cabinets, etc. and put in a new wardrobe but it hasn't come together at all.

Would really appreciate any help.

For a bedroom you could just add lots of soft furnishings to cosy it up, maybe a nice new duvet set or patchwork quilt, some cushions and a bedside light.

You could use the fireplace as a feature add some candles in the hearth and some nice family photos on the mantle will make it a more personal space.

Have you got measurements of the room ?

If it is for an elderly person, I would also suggest a comfy armchair by the fireplace and maybe an area rug.
A chest of drawers will be a suitable place to display some framed photos that they cherish.
