    Hi
I was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful advice, I am currently looking for a number of court rulings, in particular court rulings to do with Maghaberry prison between the years of 1987-2001. I have searched the college databases, Bailii etc and have come up short as there is only a handful of very selective material available. This is personal research and not college related and as it is July it is unlikely that I can ask any of my lecturers anyway. Aside from travelling up the north to local libraries to check local newspaper articles etc is there anything im missing or anywhere else I can look?

Also has all of the access to these court cases been restricted?

any answers would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you smile.png

Moving from UCD to Legal Discussion, as I think you'll get more help there.

Legal Discussion Mods, feel free to bounce it back if it's not the kind of thing that you allow for.

    Hi,

it sounds like you're looking for something very specific which might be quite difficult, this is a wild guess now but it might be worth your while emailing a query to the Court Service, see contact details of separate offices, registrars etc on their website!

I did a placement with the high court office, they keep all files in storage for years, the really old ones are in separate storage facilities, they have to be kept for a certain length of time and I can only speculate that the other court offices do too, but this would be a file full of pleadings/formal documents as opposed to a judgement and you can't get access to the file through the Court Service unless you're a legal professional involved in the case, legal researcher or you personally are party to the case.

This may not help you at all but I would certainly email a query! You would probably need as much detail as possible.

    Best of Luck!

There are in excess of 250 judgements on lexis library, including about 200 unreported NI judgements.

Overall they range from the fairly trivial to McKeown v United Kingdom (ECtHR).

Are you looking for something specific in relation to Maghaberry?

Thank you both for your help. What I am looking for is quite specific so I am going to email a query to the court service, it cant hurt.
