Just wondering if anyone has been successful in painting laminate doors in a kitchen?

They are all in great condition but I am fed up with the wooden look in the kitchen and want to change it up without the cost of new doors.

Has anyone any tips on this?

What type of primer to use? And what type of paint am I to get so it "sticks".

    Thanks

I am in the process of doing this at the moment - my kitchen has melamine over MDF - which has bubbled in places so have removed it down to the MDF.

So far I've sugarsoaped and sanded down all areas, doors, side panels and trim. I used Dulux Primer for difficult surfaces (€25 for 750ml). I tried out a gloss paint but didn't like the finish so have opted for a satinwood also by Dulux.

One door down; sanded, primed , 2 coats satinwood with light sanding between and it looks great - all in for about €100 (including a ridiculous amount of colour testers @ almost €4 each !!)

    Good luck

This is how one half of the kitchen (beech effect to begin with) is progressing. I'm really pleased how it has turned out and surprised at how easy it has been, although I'm not quite finished yet, just a couple of panels at sides of fridge and dishwasher and I'll be done - then the tiles will be tackled .

A bit of preparation and taking of time has achieved pretty good results and it's a lot easier than I was told it would be and has saved me €€€'s into the bargain :)
