Hi guys, I recently left an old job for a new job in a new county and have yet to receive my P45 from my previous employers (despite having handed in my notice and all) so now I'm worried I'm going to be emergency taxed to the wall. I've heard of people contacting the local tax office but I'm not sure what to ask of them? Would they give me a new tax credit certificate so I can avoid the emergency tax? And if so, is it better to contact them over the phone or go to their office (as in the local one in my new county as opposed to my old one)?

If you click the link below

    https://www.ros.ie/wiclo/details.jsp

Enter your PPS and ring the number it gives you. Give them the registration number of your new employer and ask them to move over your credits and cut off. You can then tell them you did not yet receive a P45 from the previous job and they will probably put you on a week one basis until it is sorted. Week one won't make a difference to your tax as you have been working all the time.

hello,i can't get the money from the person where i was working for,as he is asking me to get a letter from social welfare or form P45 to give him,as i have to pay tax for that.
As i am new in Ireland, and my first job here,i don't know what kind of letter/form,as i am not living by social here and i am not registered somewhere, i have just my pps number.
When i got to work with him,we agreed verbal only, without any contract work.
    Any advice please,thank you!

Just make sure you give your employer your pps number, he should be able to register you for tax from that
