XS Direct - Britton Insurance - Advice?

Hi all. I have an open claim on my policy and my renewal is up today. I don't want to wait for the claim to be settled which could take a few days to a month. I'm getting quotes of around the €1800 mark with the open claim.

I've got a quote of under €500 from XSDirect and €700 with Britton Insurance both with a €3k excess. Or €200 more with a €1k excess.

I know that these types of policies skimp on extras etc. but was wondering if anyone can give me advice on what they skimp on etc. I know windscreen, breakdown wouldn't be included. If a third party had a medical claim for example would that be covered or could you find yourself being sued?

Also I had driving of other cars third party on my previous policy. Are you covered third party on another car anyway if they have insurance or is it always an extra?

    Any advice appreciated.

Call them and ask them; nobody on here is going to know what they are offering you.

My general rule on XS Direct is that it is a piece of paper to stick on your windscreen to say that you are road legal, and really not a lot else.

Honestly you need to either ring the insurance companies or broker who are offering the policies or have a read of the small print. Anything offered here would be just speculation at best and I wouldn't take an answer on an internet forum as gospel when it comes to insurance cover.

I have a policy with XS Direct- 1k excess. I have breakdown assistance as I went through a Broker (First Ireland). Breakdown with homestart was added for an extra 20 quid. I'd have to check my policy booklet regarding the 3rd party medical claim.

True but their policy seems to be a one size fits all and non-specific so thought I might be able to get some advice from anyone with them who has had to go through a claim or anything else I mentioned.

PS there is a XS direct policy booklet somewhere online if you do a search. It's a pdf file- might have all the info there. If you can't find it I can e-mail a copy of one- it's on my laptop.

Found it here. Thanks again. Had a read through and it does cover personal injury etc. to a third party. Noticed there's a €50 excess on windscreen cover too which costs an additional €40.

Can't find info in Ireland for the driving of other cars but it seems to be allowed for over 25's in the UK
