Brought a guy out with me tonite. He has been hunting for years but hasn't been out in a while.

He called over so we got in the van and half a mile down the road a guy stopped me and asked to try get a fox for him. So in we went called for half hour and noting. There was loads of rabbits so he dropped one with his semi auto.

I decided to bring the 243 for the foxs as he had the semi we were well rounded. Back into the van and drove out to we're we were going. Down the pit and up onto the hill looking out over about 30-40 acres of good grass and a rough field. After calling for a few mins we got a pair of eyes called him into about 250-300 yards and he would not come any closer. Got him in the cross hairs but didn't feel right as I felt the back stop wasn't perfect.

We moved off to try circle around and he was gone. So headed on across the fields it was bright enough and very still. We were thinking it wasn't gonna happen for us. I got the lamp on the field once more and I copped a pair of eyes and I was very unsure what they even were.

He started calling and in ran a fox when he got to about 30 yards BANG he was down lovely coat and young enough. He wasn't lamp shy at all which I though was a good sign.
Started back to the van then to head home scanning all the way. See two on the road on the way home.

Stopped in the guys yard on the way home and noting very very quite and still with a fog starting to come down we didn't stay there to long. Even calling the foxs I was amazed how close he called him in and I also learned the right tone I should be aiming for.

We made a conscious decision to leave the phones at home as the two woman were on the wine. So unfortunately no pictures but a good enjoyable nite all the same. Still have to get a fox with the new rifle.

My mate was just using the back of his hand. He was very good.

I had the fox caller UK which I used a bit. He reckons it was very good I just need more practice with it.

I also had a u caller before and got rid of it because I thought it wasn't load enough. Don't know if it was the right thing to do or not.
