    Impossible to say. What is his budget? What will the PC be used for? Does he have the other parts bought? From where will be be buying?

    Its for gaming and his budget is 600 and no parts yet, buying from hardware versand or amazon

    best off with an amd fx6300 then. unless its starcraft hell mainly be playing. why not post a build thread and copy the template and a few of the guys can give you a suggested build

    Clock speed isn't an absolute measurement of speed. 4GHz mightn't be faster than 3GHz when comparing different technologies. E.g., an i5 today that's 3GHz will be several times faster than a Pentium 4 from 10 years ago that's 3GHz.

    At the same frequencies, modern Intel CPUs are faster than AMD. AMD CPUs tend to have more cores and are cheaper.

    However, the FX6300 is great value and at that budget, I agree that that's what you should be looking at.
