    Concrete is great in compresion but not tension. A way around tis is to put steel bars at the bottom of your table top. About 25-50mm in from the under side of the table top. This is common place and will make the slab strong in tension. You can use ordinary cement for the concrete, I'd use 10mm aggregate as you'll get a better finsh.
