    I am really sorry if I posted this in a wrong forum but I could not find a suitable forum for this issue
    So I bought an iPhone 5 just today from a person in WestMeath and he posted it at 4.30-5.00 pm so I was wondering is there any chance I can get it during the weekend, does registered work in the weekends or will I just get it at Monday

    If they sent it via registered post, then you will have it on Sunday morning. Registered post always gets delivered on a Sunday while standard post has to wait til Monday.

    No, with registered post, they definitely deliver on Sunday. Only catch is they only deliver between 7am & 11am. Then the postman is finished for the day, so you gotta be up to catch him. I find they usually just stick one of those sorry we missed you notes in the door instead of ringing, just to finish quicker. So you need to be up to catch the ****er.

    City Scum are you mixing up Express Post with Registered Post.

    With Express Post it would have to be sent early on Friday but you would get it on Saturday.

    I regularly get registered post re work and have never gotten it over the weekend - it's registered post to ensure it can be tracked during delivery and signed for upon receiving it. It's not an express/next day delivery service

    Just to point out though I am rural based so unless its different in a city but I doubt it. As I said, you used registered post not express post which is a different service

    Express Post is where you pay a premium for guaranteed next day delivery.

    Registered Post is normal speed post but where the recipient signs for it so there is proof of delivery.

    I'm open to correction on the following but registered post goes no faster than other post, there is a limited postal service on Saturdays and no service on Sundays.

    My uncles, friends mam was in the same situation and told her cousin to tell me the postman is sound and said he'll be around the weekend

    Doesn't matter what an post say, tell them you read it on boards so they have to honour it or its a breach of the sale of goods act 1865 and Joe Duffy will take them to the small claims court where your solicitor Joe Higgins will act in your behalf... And he always wins

    Or..... You could always just ask the post office as quick as you came on here by using that handheld device otherwise known as a telephone.

    We're many things but postmen we most probably are not

    I'm pretty sure if all the fine people here on After Hours really thought about it, they'd agree that the best thing you can do is get up and wait at 7am to catch the postman. I bet he tries to just stick a "Sorry we missed you" note in the door. So get up about 6:30am, have a few cups of coffee and wait till about 11am.

    Wouldn't everyone here agree, that would be the best solution. Registered post will get sent on a Sunday, trust me.
