    Hi,

Just wondering does anyone know much about the Galway races on Sunday ?

Thinking of heading down on Sunday with a few of my friends but I've heard it's the worst day to go in terms of "the craic".

Any info would be great thanks .

I haven't ever been there on the Sunday. I'd imagine you could have craic if you wanted to though.

It is family day. I'd say it's a little more subdued due to the 6 days of partying that precedes the Sunday more than anything else. There's mass in the parade ring at 12 noon to help you wash away your sins before you join in the hedonism again later that afternoon :)

So if you were in my situation would you just leave it or suit up , get drunk and lose everything ?

Dispense with the suit. The rest of your plan looks A1.

No, it's just I wouldn't bother with one myself but if you want to wear one, you won't look out of place

Suits are everywhere for the entire Galway festival.

From my own personal experience the best days for the craic are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

This is the first year I won't be in Galway in ages.

Yeah I really wanted to make it down for the Thursday but unfortunately I can't , so Sunday is my only option . I was just hoping Sunday will be have proper race day atmosphere i.e wearing suits/good race card and not just kids running around .

It's the biggest race meeting of the year. There will be a proper race day atmosphere at it.

Sunday is Mad Hatters Day at the races so expect to see plenty of wacky hats. It's also a day that families go. It's prob the worst day of the meeting but at the same time can be very enjoyable especially if you have a winner or two. As far as wearing a suit goes, I would say you would not look out of place.

While at the Galway Races make sure to have a pint of Guinness. Even in the plastic cups it still tastes great.

I haven't been on Sunday but am planning on going with my family this Sunday. As people mentioned it's family day so there'll be face painters, clowns, lots of kid stuff there.

It's also the last day so I imagine crowds will be a lot smaller than other days.

It's €20 to get in on the Sunday.
