"Cat's are harmless," they say. "They don't attack people," they say. Tell that to this woman:
About six cats pounced on the unnamed dog owner as she walked her poodle in the city of Belfort, in the popular Franche-Comte region, on the Swiss border, dragging her to the ground and mauling her.
She was bitten repeatedly and left with a torn artery which could have proved fatal, while the dog was also badly hurt.

Cats should be banned. Most owners are irresponsible.

With an average weight of 5 kilos , multiply by 5 or 6 you have a heavy multiple legged / clawed aggressor. Cats can be vicious on their own, I can't imagine an attack like this !! Must have been horrific !!

Also think it's high time for her to get an actual dog: not a rat with a perm.

My cats breath smells like catfood.

Maybe if they were big mangy tom cats, but is that not pretty heavy for any average cat? Esepcially feral ones which I assume wouldn't be exactly fat.

I don't think anyone thinks that - just that cats are far less dangerous than some dogs, which can actually kill. This isolated, freak incident doesn't change that.

I would rather my chances in a fair fight against 6 cats , than against 6 dogs.

The article states poodle. Doesn't say toy poodle, miniature, medium or standard poodle etc. Have you ever seen a standard poodle? They're fairly big dogs. ;)

Any dog that lets a couple of cats bully their owner need to have their dog identity card revoked with immediate effect.

The infection from the cat bites would kill you in the end, days later in agony.

Well at least I think so, I think cat saliva is meant to be nasty stuff.

    Yawn.....

Given a choice of a fight with some dogs or some cats i'd prefer the dogs to be honest...

After all, A Lion is a cat. As is a Tiger. And a Leopard.

Give me a wolf that i can train like Snake Eyes pet, Timber, anyday!

6 feral cats not 'a couple of cats'. The owner was mauled along with the dog. That make her a wuss too?

I read the article. It seems you didn't. As you assume a poodle is a small fluffy lap dog.

It's actually pretty hard coming up with cat puns.

So far I only have catatonic and a few shit ones based on tabby and Whiskas on the mental drawing board. :(

8 of of ten cats prefer poodles.

I disagree, if they were the same size. Cats have four more things with which to inflict injury than dogs do (ie. a set of claws on each foot), and can climb up you to do maximum damage.
I wish headlines in the paper were as straightforward as the ones here.
    Would this be better?

FRENCH BITCH LICKED IN PUSSY RIOT
The infection from the cat bites would kill you in the end, days later in agony.

Yup. Cat saliva is toxic, and because they lick themselves the bacteria is generally all over their claws too.

And for anyone wondering how they pulled her down; a torn artery will collapse you in short order.

    Wha? 8000, bull****.

Not that it matters much but it wasn't two cats.

On topic, I've been attacked by a single cat when I was a teen and to be honest it was pretty frightening. Can't image what it'd be like to be attacked by 6 from all directions.
"left with a torn artery which could have proved fatal" ****ing hell..

Yes. I have yet to see a responsible cat owner exercise their animal under control. Usually they are just let out. No worries about them getting hit by a car, ****ting in their neighbours flowerbeds and being an all round menace to society.

Cats can be terribly vicious. When I was a child, I was attacked by one and I can still remember it vividly. Not a fan of them at all. I'm always wary of them.

This poor woman. One cat coming at you is bad enough but six. I can't even imagine how it must have felt.

He added: "Tourists from countries like Britain should certainly be wary – they should certainly not approach these cats, or try to feed them."

    LOL :D

Those idiotic British tourists who insist on feeding our ferocious feral french cats should desist or suffer dire consequences...

Im guilty of feeding wild cats too... This could happen to me

It's all right. Britain invented the cat.
