As a newcomer to a MOBA I was wondering is there any plans for an introduction to mobas, how they are played, the basics etc. it's just I've played dota a small bit and have a good idea of the main game mechanics, lanes, last hits and denying. I'm still lost on items and all but a few heroes. I've been looking at the threads and most of the time it seems like a different language with so many abbreviations and it can be a little off putting for a noob. I'm sure it may be the same for other noobs, like myself, who come on here for advise and tips. So just wondering would it be a good idea to have a glossary or something similar or even links to one.
If this is already planned then feel free to delete this post mods, thanks

I think what you're suggesting are good idea's, but I think a lot of those things have to come from us, the players, not the mods.

If someone wants to do a glossary, let them. If they want to write an intro or a guide to their favourite hero/champion/(insert game specific name for characters here) let them. If they want to link their favourite resources etc. then do it.

I'd take a crack at some of that stuff myself but for the next few weeks I'm busy IRL (getting married/doing a phd) so can't offer much more than encouragement.

If we're thinking aspirational, I actually think an "adopt a noob" scheme would be cool too, but that's a topic for another day ;)

Edit:I'm going to follow my own advice and throw in a few links that people may (or may not) find interesting

    First up: Glossaries
    http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/League_of_Legends_terminology
    http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Glossary

These strike me as over complete and more useful as a reference than for familiarising yourself with basic terms, but they may be useful.

League of legends coverage I enjoy has been found here:

    http://themittani.com/category/league-of-legends?
(on this note I've always sucked at internet spaceships, lacking patience as I do, but found some of the articles interesting)

    http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/summoners-guidebook/

I actually haven't read either of these in a while, but iirc they're fairly easy going/casual in tone which I think is good for newbies. I am not a fan of sink or swim throw in at the deep end philosophies, which is why I didn't add in a load of links to build/guide websites, but they're probably useful to have too. I don't have too many Dota related links built up yet or I'd add in a bit more there.

The mechanics on MOBA's are both identical and in certain cases radically different to each other. I reckon we should have seperate noob guides for LoL, Dota 2 and HoN.

My initial request thread goes into a little bit of detail of what a MOBA is and how the current MOBA's on the market differentiate from each other.
