Ideal first Projector Set Up

Looking for some advice on how you would ideally set up a projector in a room for the purpose of TV/Movies/Gaming. What equipment would I need to buy and what's the best way to cable it.

It's not going to be a dedicated cinema room as it'll be bright during the day, it's a rectangle, 15ft (w) 21(L) and the ceiling is 9ft. (no chimney breast to worry about). I've easy access to the attic for running cables from one point to another.

I really don't know where to start, for example how do I connect all my devices to the projector if it's mounted to the ceiling? Can I get some type of hdmi hub to run all the devices into and then send one hdmi cable to the projector, can audio also run through this hub and send out 5.1/7.1 sound?

Budget wise I was hoping to get away about €1500 for the screen and projector. I spotted an Epson EH TW5910 it's got a good review on what hifi here http://www.whathifi.com/review/epson-eh-tw5910 and is well within budget.

I'm unsure of what specs to look out for in a projector or screen and i'm wondering is it possible to watch tv with the blinds open or do you need darkness.

Picture quality is top of my list, currently have a pioneer kuro where the projector screen is to go and would like the image to be on par or very close when the lights are off. Was on the look out for a kuro 6090 or 600a but none seem to be turning up, is the projector a serious alternative or could I be disappointed?

    cheers for any advice.

Do a bit of browsing here and all should become clear and expensive. ;)

Depending on your room colour you could get away with initially projecting on to the wall till you find perfect location and screen size. You will need an AV Receiver & speakers for sound, this allows you connect all your devices to it and then connect one HDMI cable to projector.

Depending on the projector you can get away with daytime viewing but in reality light and projectors don't mix that well, so you will always need to be doing your best to reduce ambient light. I usally just tilt the blinds to avoid direct light hitting the screen, its good enough but by no means a bat cave.

If you are looking Kuro quality projector, screen, receiver, speakers I would say you budget is way off as you would be looking top of the range everything.

I think you will find my thread about the BenQ W1070 projector and Sapphire 106" screen here useful.

You can see from the photos that pulling the screen up and down converts it from a normal room to a cinema room and back again as easily as using a pull cord on a blind when you mount the screen over a window.

As eddie says, you can use the projector during daylight hours, but from dusk is better.
