mystery poo in garden

We moved into a house recently which had been vacant for a couple of years. I think the wildlife is still getting used to the idea that someone is living here. There's been some black poos in the garden which I've identified as being hedgehog scat - that's ok.

However I found more scat (yesterday right outside my front door) that I don't know what it is. It's not a cat or dog. I will photo it the next time. It looks like a small brown blob - nearly as if it's a fat brown slug curled up. The one outside the front door had smeary bits between blobs as if something had then rubbed its arse on the ground. It doesn't seem big enough to be a fox. Doesn't smell like cat/dog poo - very overpowering musty pungent smell, hard to describe.

Anyway apart from hedgehogs and my potty training son, I'd like to know what else is pooing round the place - any ideas?

".......very overpowering pungent musty smell..." would suggest it could be fox scat, but I'm no expert on poo!

I'm no expert on poo (not the first time I've said that), but could it just be a dog/cat with an unhealthy diet? People tend to feed their pets whatever they want, not realising this is often bad for them! The streets of Wexford are covered in a wide range of different coloured/shaped/textured 'faecal samples' by dogs for instance....

Don't worry I've seen enough dog poo to know what it looks like . . . .this isn't dog / cat. I think it must be a fox although the pictures online for fox poo look bigger than this blobby stuff. Baby fox?
