    Hi,

I need to find out who I insured my car with in 2010/2011 so I can ask for proof of no claims bonus.

I called the motor tax office in Co. Clare but they said they can only see who my current insurance policy is with.

Anybody got ani idea if this info is held on record anywhere?

    Thanks -W

There is no central record/ database of driving experience.

The only option is to ring your current insurer and ask them whats the insurance company they have noted from previous year.

I cannot believe this thread. Surely you must have some recollection of who you went with? DO you remember were they the cheapest, the best or did you just stay with them from the year before?
If I had a memory that bad, I wouldnt trust myself to actually remember to renew insurance every year.

A proof of no claims bonus from 2010 will be no good to you anyways

Did you get sorted with this question?? I have just gone through the same thing,, and for those of you who say, its a bad memory when you cant remember,, I was only with a company for a year in 10-11 and then moved to company insurance, so I ended up with the same problem,,

Today I called my bank head office to see if I had made payments from my bank to insurance in 2010-2011 and thankfully they had the info I needed, so maybe if you call your back they will find the payment and to whom it was made,, that's if you have not already done so,

It is bad memory. I remember all the insurance companies I've been with. There aren't millions out there.
The thread is over a year old. As was already stated, they only last 2 years so they would be invalid just like yours are SHOPIN.

I am all sorted, No Claims on its way to me, As I said, I had only just insured the car with a new company and then changed to a company vehicle which I did not need my own insurance, however my private insurance only ran out in 2012 as I had not cancelled it, so I get my full no claims back from the last company,

You are such a positive person, and thank you for taking the time to reply,
I know the post is two years old but it came up on google when I asked the same question, so I asked did the person get sorted,
However in the mean time I got sorted, so all happy now, Heading off now to film the Cannonball run for the weekend, so have a great one yourself and enjoy this beautiful weather xx

    Probably the best approach.

As a long shot, this organisation might be able to assist: http://www.mibi.ie/

I can well understand not remembering. We shop around and change every year for two or three cars. Probably used them all at one time or another but in which order I have no clue.

It makes no difference who you were insured with in 2010/2011. Your current insurer takes on your NCB and they issue your most up to date NCB.

If you haven't been insured since then, then I think your NCB has expired. They only last 2 years.

When moving to nononsense, prev NCB wasn't enough, they wanted the 1st year NCB that was with a different company to the latest...

I wouldn't go anywhere near them due to their horrendous ads. Now there's another reason to avoid them.

Nobody is going to have those certs. You get a proof of NCB cert at the end of a year and if you change insurer you have to send it in to the new company (the actual cert, not a copy). Therefore the old certs are not available to be sent to Nononsense.

Luckily I had them scanned :) and sent them through email.
