It's sooooo frustrating having to read a thread which doesn't follow the charter.

I mean seriously... threads saying "Guitarist" etc.

    Wanted or Available?
    Lead or Rhythm?
    Covers or Originals?
    Where from?
    Got Transport?
    What age?
    Gigging Experience?
    Own Gear?
    Willing to Travel?
    ETC ETC ETC.

I mean seriously, Mods can you police this more!
All the other areas enforce their charter when then there is a clear one in place like there is here. It would save everyone so much time and energy.

*Prepares one-self for the backlash of abuse* :D

Also can people please read the relevant thread linked in the charter?
Or can we make it a sticky Mods?

Hey OP. I'm looking for a left handed bongo player. Must have own bongos and transport. Must have own hands too.

    No time wasters.

Isn't discussing modding in threads against the charter though?

Cormac I saw you post the charter on some guy's ad, in all fairness I don't think that's your job and it's going a little far, it's coming of a bit passive aggressive.

I am not sure that I entirely agree. IMO it is in everyone's interest to make sure that the forum runs smoothly. The mods have enough on their plate without having to make sure that people supply information that after all, is to their own benefit, and makes things easier for all. I dont see a problem with non mods giving a reminder about this. Perhaps if more people did this, then the message might finally sink in.

As "Dell Boy" used to say......"You know it makes sense..!!" ;)

Not really, there's a difference between being passive aggressive (which is an overused phrase these days) and just highlighting the processes that people have recommended to allow the forum to run efficiently.

I have seen MANY other users, not mods refer to the charter or recommended ways of posting on other forums. Talk the PC Modding/Overclocking/Upgrading/Building one as an example.

As regards not being allowed to discuss the work of the mods in the other post.
Seriously, I'm asking a question. This isn't north korea guys.
I'm simply airing my opinion on the matter and asking if we can regulate things a bit better.

Yeah but going on other people's ads and posting the charter is a bit much, I agree the musician forum can be a bit messy. Plus the ad I'm referring to, the guy asked you a question as to what he was doing wrong and you didn't give a response or much of one. Bring it up with the mods, if you want to see changes on the site, that's where it's going to happen, cause as you pointed out this isn't North Korea, I'm sure they will listen to your concerns.

So you are asking others not to break a "rule" by breaking the rules?

I fail to see what the issue really is. As in the bongo example above, if somebody posts a bare-bones ad, they're really the only one to suffer, as they won't in all likelihood get any useful responses. A self-solving problem, if you like?

If pointless threads annoy you, stay well clear of AH!

I see your point. However, IMO there is an issue. The most annoying way in which the "rules" are often broken is when someone does not even give their location. This happens quite a lot. I also think that the thread starter is not the only one to "suffer" ( that might be too strong a word...."irritated" might be closer). For example when someone is potentially interested in a thread looking for musicians. The poster gives the bare bones (often even less). So the interested person has to either reply looking for more information or P.M. the thread starter. In the end the vacancy might not suit the person looking.

All this unnecessary hassle could be avoided if a little common sense prevailed, in which case the person looking, could have known at first glance, if the vacancy suited him or not.

I'd tend to think of a badly posted ad as useful in some ways. Means I wouldn't waste time getting in touch, and end up trying to work with somebody who can't string a simple post together. Imaging trying to organise a rehearsal with them?

It's kind of an analogue of the badly spelled cv. Into the bin with it...

Thats actually how i look at it a lot... so i just ignore them.... imagine how many talented musicians miss out because of stuff like that....
I guess it comes down to a level of professionalism... even if you're just looking to jam

Good point. Had not really considered that aspect.

In that case, it begs the question as to why you started this thread.
