How to get tax back if moving abroad

    Hi all,

I've asked a few people about this but answers are inconsistent! I'm hoping you lovely people on boards can help me :) I'm moving to New Zealand next month, I'm an Irish national and was wondering about claiming back this years tax. My boss told me he can keep me on the payroll and a month after I leave he will submit my payroll @ 0 hours and all my tax will come flooding back?! It sounds too easy and was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this? If this wouldn't work would it be easier to go to a tax agent who'll shave off a % or do it solo?

    Any advice appreciated :)

Good question, I'm currently Abroad, and I worked up until April. I thought i had to wait until the end of this year to claim back tax i am owed, but if I could get it sooner that would be better :)
