    Hi guys,

    Just a quick question.

I bought my Gaggia MDF grinder a year ago and have cleaned as I have gone but I assume I should be cleaning inbetween the burrs etc but dont know how to go about it.

I've read online to put some white rice through it but obviously am a bit worried.

Dont want to break the machine.

    thanks.

    eoin

For basic cleaning I'd recommend getting your hands on some Grindz and using 30g every 2nd month (or even more regular depending on how much action your grinder is getting)

The following reads like a good guide to taking apart the Gaggia MDF for a deeper clean:

No doubt there are video/photo guides out there also.

Have you tried gaggia/watermark in CityWest?

Tried them a while back, they didn't have any and thought they may be able order them but didn't know how much (could have just been an unhelpful sales person I spoke to though)

Whole Latte Love in Canada stocked them in the past, worst case scenario if you can't find local.

Folks. Quick question. Can anyone advise how tall the Gaggia RI8122/60 MDF Ceramic Burr Coffee Grinder actually is. Can't get dimensions online. I'm going to be shortly in the market for one to go beside my Gaggia Classic. Just want to make sure it will fit between my countertop and the base of my kitchen presses, a space of about 18 to 19 inches.

    Cheers

it's about an inch shorter than the classic.

Thanks a mill decob. Can I also ask you is it worth the money ? I see it on amazon now for around stg£190. A lot of money obviously and just want to be sure to be sure before taking the plunge.

I'm using the "Lavazza Dolce e Gusto ground coffee" at the moment for my espressos. Pretty good results. Would it be that much better?

as most here will probably say a good grinder is a must over the machine, i have no regrets (part from the price) - and i get a lot of use out of it. But ultimately it's down to personal preference

Folks, any idea where I can get a Gaggia MDF Grinder for a decent price. Can't seem to see anything currently available via the Internet ???

    Thanks

Finally took the plunge with the Gaggia MDF grinder. Got it for £175 on The House Of Fraser website in the UK. That price included free delivery to their Dundrum shop which is just up the road from me. With the currency conversion it works out at just €250 which is a bit of a pain in the hole/wallet but I've been lurking about on this for a while now and wanted to bite the bullet. Will collect when back up in Dublin tomorrow and report back in due course.

    Here's hoping....

Very, very good outcome. I found setting the dial at 6 got the best results for espresso. I'm struggling to get my hands on the Lavazza "crema e gusto" in bean format. That's what I used to use before I bought the grinder.

Grinder is a bit messy to use and you need to put a small plate or something like that under it to keep the counter top clean and tidy. However, the resulting espresso is really, really good and takes it to the next level, as previous posters have mentioned.

Overall, I'm happy I shelled out the money for it and hope to get many years of usage.
