Help! Flight Price up €90 overnight

    Hi
Just looking for some advice. I have been looking at an Aer Lingus flight for a couple of days. It's in six weeks time and over night it went up €90 yesterday. Do you think it might come back down again or should I cut my losses and accept that I missed the (ahem!!) boat for the better fare. Do you think the price will continue to rise??
I am not at all keen to pay the much higher price for a flight to the UK and will probably have to consider an alternative.

Very unlikely it will come down, they must have crossed a threshold with the last few bookings so they can now charge as much as they like as they've covered the cost of the flight. They probably expect to be able to fill the remaining seats with last minute business people and folk attending funerals so they can jack the price sky high and not care if there's a couple of empty seats on the day.

Not so. While probably an indication that plane is filling up it is possible that they might reacess and reduce price again in a week or two.

I bought a Ryanair ticket that went up from €120 to €180. The week before the flight the same ticket was €60.

I don't think it will come down again. Seldom happens.

Clear your cookies and check it again just in case :)

Aer Lingus had a sale last week, up to 50% off, ended Monday. Unless they have another sale fare is unlikely to come down again

Thanks so much for all the replies. I had tried clearing the cookies and there was no change. The flights to the UK weren't covered in the sale unfortunately or at least for the flight I wanted. I think I will have to do the unthinkable and travel with Ryanair! Thanks again

Noticed that Ryanair prices sometimes come down. Never seen it with Aer Lingus.

Seen it happen a good few times with Aer Lingus, particularly when its over 90 days into the future.

I have only seen an Aer Lingus flight come done once, was for a flight to Lyon, about a week before hand. Once booked I usally don't bother checking the price again

I know some people think that clearing your cookies will lead to a lower fare, I have not seen the evidence nor would it probably be legal, however...

Instead of clearing your Cookies all at once and losing your important cookies, the simple solution is to always use an incognito window when searching for travel deals. Use the Google Chrome browser (if you aren't already) and from the menu at the right and click New Incognito Window. Cookies and history for that session get deleted automatically when you close the window. Similar "private" browsing can be done in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

You can try using Kayak or Skyscanner. These have historic data for the price of your flight and make predictions about whether or not the price will go up in the future.
