Finished my undergrad and want to change to career in IT. Undertaking a higher diploma for the year in NUIG. Im almost 24 and have been paying my own way the last 2 years however I will be struggling more than usual for the upcoming year. Anyone know of any funding as I dont think I can get any funding from susi for my fees?? And as I am a mature student should I?

You can apply to SUSI for a grant of 2000 or 6270 but you would probably not be considered an independent mature student and would have to be assessed on your parents income

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Is there a way that I could be considered independent, if I could prove that I have been living and fending for myself the past few years or is it a case that I haven't been out of college for more than three years so therefore I'm still dependent on my parents according to susi??

Yes to your second question SUSI will want to assess you as dependant because there has not been a break of three years.
