Hi , I have opened a charity shop. My application for charity status is pending.
I was told I don't have to pay tax on second hand goods, but now I'm told I do have to pay vat.
I don't have my charity status yet, .
    Any advice please.
PS Its a legit business, all clear and transparent, no messing and I don't receive a fee.I do this for the love of it. I have staff, paid part time.I give my profits away to other charitys.
    Thanks

We have set up the charity to pay for things in the community. Our application is going in, I thought it had gone.Yep we are paying Cor Tax, PAYE .I just cant imagine having to pay 23% tax on a pram that we would sell for 10 euro. I though if it is second hand you don't pay vat?
