Does anyone know where to get LG,MG Mould or SG 12 bore cartridges? Which would be the best?

If ya don't mind me asking for what?

There some pretty heavy cartridges. I must check it out as some could even be restricted ammo (really don't know on that one)

As for where. I haven't seen any in any of my local dealers. not something that i would think would be in huge demand.

I was thinking of using something heavier like SG on foxes. I have been using AAA with some success. Thought I might get a little bit more range with SG etc.
I just thought it more humane to dispatch the quarry more efficiently.

I thought it was only slugs that were restricted.

You're probably right. i mean the others are shot and not slugs.

They are very heavy cartridges, and as said i haven't seen any in some time. I've an all old box of Remmy myself, but have it years.

You do a lot of long shots on foxes? What type of gun (choked, etc)?

Sorry for all the questions, just really curious is all.

686 tried all possible combinations of choke 1/2 and full. Yards 50-60 would be max with shotgun. Have tried slugs (in UK) but can't get the accuracy. Have heard some fellas can get 70-80 yards with heavies.

42 & 36gr 5's plus 36gr 4's with a full choke in my 686 have always been more than enough to drop any fox out to 60 yards. The 36's were so good in fact i found little to no need for anything heavier.

Not being a smart arse i'm just trying to under your need for BBs, Slugs, or any seriously heavy cartridge.

Same here - I shot hundreds of foxes with 36g no 4 .......knocks them dead out to 45 yards or more..........seems to have the best combination of energy and knock down power with accuracy.

Some of the heavier cartridges have heavier / less pellets but the spread is usually all over the place / not accurate past 35 yards.......defeats the whole purpose!

Some guns ....Remington pumps & semi etc. have aftermarket slug barrels & rifled shotgun barrels. Maybe this is what's needed to get the 70 - 80 yard accuracy.

A running, bolting fox, shot at 80 yards with a shotgun, would be some shot.
