Beer and estrogen

I wouldn't say it's BS. Alcohol consumption definitely has been shown to increase oestrogen.

However, the more practical question most guys want answered would be is this increase significant enough to be worried about?

Obviously there are plenty of guys who can put on muscle whilst still going out at the weekend, so it can be done. If your looking to absolutely maximise gains though then yeah, laying off the sauce for a while is probably best.

For me the biggest problem I would have would be the disrupted sleep pattern and sleep deprivation I get when I go out on the lash of a Saturday night. That's probably going to be a much bigger problem than the actual effect of alcohol on hormones.

If you're drinking is anyway reasonable then it shouldn't be all that big of an issue I would think. Depends on your own goals/circumstances.

lift heavy weights, refrain from drinking like a mad eejit all the time, keep diet tight 90% of the time and you will be grand

But is there a link between the two?

Alcohol consumption itself decreases testosterone levels, whilst hops do contain potent phytoestrogens, so no, it's not BS. Personally I've noticed the sedative effects of hops more than anything else (not being a huge drinker).

Does anyone know of any beers that don't contain hops, out of interest?

would be interested in finding this out also!

any what beers are best to be drinking in general, I know none are but say between drinking coors, tiger, Heineken, dutch gold, guiness etc. I know coors has the lower kcals and carb content, be great to get a proper breakdown but sure everything bar the light beers are not going to be good

Cider wouldn't be hopped, I don't know any hopless beers though.

there are some but very limited editions. Brew your own and you can do it hopless. Some beers have more hops added than others too
