Hi folks maybe someone could help me, had my jeep serviced a week ago, found no issues other than an oil leak.
today my jeep failed the DOE for several reasons...

    parking brake imbalance
    front wheel bearing - damaged
front suspension - front link damaged
front suspension - ball joints damaged
    left CV boot damage critical

apart from that the thread depth on 1 tyre failed, this i ,measured and 2 of my tyres are new and the other 2 are 4mm minimum but im guessing theres nobody to complain to about that.

my question is should my mechanic have spotted those problems when he serviced the car? this is going to cost me a fortune and i want to know what i should be paying the mechanic for.

hope to hear from someone thanks in advance

problems both ways. do ya expect a full inspection for the price of a service or also if he turned around pointing out work you could get thick thinking hes only trying to make work for himself.

all one side so its not as bad but theres half a day to a days work there

and the back pads might need changing

Depends where you went and how much you paid, if it was one of those all cars serviced for €49 then its no surprise but if it was a mechanic or workshop you trust then yeah they should have checked it out properly for you. Did you go back with the fail sheet?

i paid 180 for a service, nothing out of the ordinary just took a look at a stiff gearbox and found nothing. went back to him with the sheet and he asked me to come back thursday.
im a regular and i do trust him but im disappointed in that long list of fails, sone of them should have stood out to the mechanic, ive waisted 90 euro on a DOE and dont have the funds to go back in 20 days with the repairs for a retest so ill have to pay that again when i do have the repairs.

Repairs would have to be done anyway, as it failed on tyre thread that you though was ok, it would have failed anyway. So the repairs and retest would happen.

Part of a full service on a 4x4 with auto locking hub bearings is to check the play in the bearings and tighten them if it needs it, what is damaged on the bearing or is it excess play? and what kind of jeep is it?
