Just wondering with Ryanair now with a fleet of plus 300 aircraft how many aircraft do they have spare each day at this time of the year?

I'd imagine they wouldn't have much. Maybe one aircraft per base in case an aircraft goes tech. All of their planes would be operating non-stop throughout the summer season.

1 aircraft per base??? I seriously doubt they'd want even 1 spare in europe, that's a lot of money just sitting round waiting.

If an aircraft goes tech they'll just delay or cancel, putting passengers onto a later flight.

I'd agree - very high fleet utilisation would be the expected norm.

    Winter is another story!

Keep in mind that many FR bases are only 1-3 aircraft operations. (45+ bases I believe?)
Thus I would expect no standby aircraft at these. The larger bases, such as Dublin, Stanstead, Bergamo, Alicante, Beauvais, Charleroi, etc would probable have 1 standby per day. (not necessarily the same aircraft all day, but one aircraft avail at any time if required)

They have 303 aircraft on the books, probably about 5 spare in STN, DUB, MAD, CRL, BGY. Last winter they had 100 spare around the network.

    Edit: they have 53 bases

they actually only have 2 spare aircraft a day throughout europe. have some aircraft midday sitting for a few hours at the main bases like DUB and STN.

Diverted to Prestwick/Glasgow after a lightening strike. Was cleared after an hour on the ground to continue to Alicante.

There is very few spare and not one per base, you may find one or two around DUB, PIK, STN and HHN but that's it. Some aircraft at bases may have an hour or two to spare in the day and if there is tech problems they fill in and the schedules are just changed to try get things back on track.

Jamie is right, if a formal "spare" is nominated at a base, well and good. If not, whatever becomes available on the day will do. If an FR base of four aircraft cannot furnish a spare, then another nearby base will fill in, if it has to. Sometimes, what happens is that the first aircraft back to base, that is expected to stay for the night, will be nominated as the spare and will be made ready for instant call, subject to serviceability. Old story: use whatcha got, when ya got it. Other airlines operate a more formal system, such as fly nine out of ten and use an aircraft waiting to go in for a Check, with a few hours to spare, as the possible spare.
