What type of stone is this?

    Can anyone help me identify this stone from necklace, it's an antique necklace not sure exactly how old but I think at least 50 years? Thanks

    Is in the main stone you want or the little ones? I know the little ones are marcasite. Gorgeous necklace btw.

    It was the main stone tbh I didn't even realise the little bits were stones I jus thought they were little pieces of metal!! Ya it is fab only comes out for special occasions as its slightly delicate:)

    I've just come across a similar necklace in my searching is it possible that the stone is black onyx ??

    From the photo it looks like hematite. But it could be that camera flash makes it seem less black than it is.

    Yep they are stones alright - used quite a bit in jewellery from the 1920's era and were nicknamed Black Diamonds at one point. :)

    Had a reply in antique forum that the main stone is called jet stone?
    Black diamonds!! If only......:)
