Personal details on an unknown website

I'm not sure where to post this but hopefully will get some answers. I have found my mum's personal details on a website called eupseie.ie. This includes our home address and home phone number. She didn't put any of these details on this site, we've never heard of this site and she would never put these details on any site. Does anyone know anything about this site? It seems many people are on this site but I can't find out what it is exactly. How did they get this information and how can we remove it?
    Thanks.

website doesn't work .... cant find it online.

as regards the removal - do they have a contact page, report it to the data protection office - cite breach of data protection.

its eupsie.com .... found family members on it.

It's public information. The same details you find in a phone book!

Do you get annoyed when you see your mams name in a phone book?

It's a search engine, it doesn't host any of the information, so they don't need to/can't remove any of the information. Same as Google. You need to find out the original source of information (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn) and remove it or hide it from the public on that site.

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

Do you have a landline phone at home? Phone directory would be the most obvious option.

Completely forgot to reply to this. I was on my phone so I couldn't check the whole website properly. I didn't know that it was like an online phone book, that's why I asked here. I wasn't sure of how they got her details. I know now that it's fine so thanks for the help.

Hi. my details were also on it. It shows how to remove it in the "Terms of Service " link at the bottom left of the page. scroll down to the heading "removing your information" and it explains. Basically the steps are as follow: Please note step 2 is very important to get correct address from the address bar.

    1. Go back to the page with your mothers details
    2. look in the address bar : the address should have your mother's name with some numbers after it. If not search for your details and open the page with your mothers details on it.
    3. once you have the correct address . copy this address.
    4. on the bottom right of the page is a "policy" button/tab. click on it
    5. It will open to privacy policy. scroll down to box titled remove your listing"
    6. Fill in the URL address you copied from step 2. It will also require an e-mail address to send a link to you to remove the details.
    7. Open e-mail and follow instructions. Hope this is helpful i have done this for myself and am awaiting e-mail.

This has nothing to do with the phonebook. My details are not in the phonebook, however my home address, home phone number and a map showing my bloody house are there for all to see. WT actual F is this?

Surely it must be something to do with location settings on mobile phones that are not quite as secure as we think they are? This is ridiculous altogether. I have never seen this level of invasion before.

I Google myself regularly, for the hell of it, and to see what crap is out there and to see how I am represented etc., and this site was not coming up two weeks ago.

    Anyone any further updates?

Again, it's a search engine, it doesn't host any of the information, so they don't need to/can't remove any of the information. Your details are public because you are the registrant of the website called h**ryh******y.com. Your details are available to the public on the whois record for that website

Thats logical. Thanks for the clarification, I forgot about the whois stuff.

Out of curiosity, how did you know that I was linked to that particular website?

Your Boards.ie Profile => Facebook Tennis Club => Ronan H on FB page gave me your full name, then searched on eupseie to get your address ,then googled your address

Nice one. Goes to show that a. its not rocket science to find information about someone online if you know how to go about it, and b. it takes a bit of thought to keep one's details reasonably under wraps.

Has been a bit if an eye opener for me actually. Thanks again.

OK, so I have looked into this a bit further.

I thinking that the details were harvested from the WHOIS database, I went about anonymising my entries, only to discover that my land line was not listed on the WHOIS record. My mobile number was however.

So now I am wondering where my landline came from on the EUpse website. My details are not in the phonebook, and a quick Google search of my landline number only brings up one spurious French website with thousands and thousands of sequential phone numbers listed on it.

Any ideas where the landline details may have come from? Or the address details if it wasn't the WHOIS database?

I'm sort of determined to get to the bottom of this now, out of curiosity rather than anything else...

    Thanks.

    Ro

Its hard to know. Possibly entered it somewhere without realising? Old WHOIS records? Donedeal/ebay? Can you find it on 11890.ie?

Try googling your landline in the form: +353 XX XXXXXXX rather than in the form 0XX XXXXXXX.

For goodness sake, it's on both 11890 and 11850. I thought my details would not be included on those websites once I put myself on the National Directory Database Opt-Out register.

It never ends. I guess I'll have to contact those two green feckers on the motorbikes and have words with them...

    Thanks!

You can get yourself removed from the directory database by contacting your provider. They are usually updated around the 15th, but this may have changed, they are released every month anyway.

Glad to hear you figured it out

Hmm, I dont want to be removed from the NDD, it's an opt-out service, i.e. you put your name on it if you dont want to be contacted or your details used. I want to stay on it, however Im wondering how my details got onto the 118 service if I am already on the NDD. Have to suss that out.

I got swift responses from both 11890 and 11850 when I contacted them. As you said, its up to Eircom to sort it out, but I'm still curious as to how my details got there if I am on the NDD, but maybe Eircom will clarify that as both of the 118s fingered Eircom as the culprits!

    Ill keep you posted...
