What's the craic with my driving instructor..?

    Hi guys,

I passed my theory test last month and booked 2 lessons online for Friday just gone(on a well known driving school) and they text me basically saying thanks for booking with them and told me what driving instructor i'll have.

So anyways, on Friday, when it was time for my lessons, it wasn't even the instructor who this irish motoring school told me I'd have. It was a completely different guy!!

After my lessons, he handed me my log book and wrote in it but he never stamped it. He said he left his stamp at home and said he'll bring it next time(basically saying if I want it stamped I have to book him again..?)

I also logged on to the RSA website today and I see that he hasn't uploaded my lessons onto MY EDT.

Guys what do I do? I rang up the driving company to complain and they told me to ring him..

So I rang him up and he could BARELY remember who I was, he asked what my name was three times. I told him that I want to book one more lesson for Friday and he said yeah okay, and I asked him will be bring his stamp and he said he would.
I also said it to him about uploading to the RSA website and he goes "Ohh, yeahh.. I hadn't got around to that yet. I'll do it now when I get off the phone". This phone call was at 1 o clock earlier on. I logged into the RSA website and he still hasn't uploaded to it. And my log book isn't stamped.

Guys seriously, what can I do? :/ I spent 70e on two lessons and I don't wanna feel like I got taken advantage of..

    Cheers!

I think you might be worrying unnecessarily. The log book isn't that important anymore as you don't need to bring it with you when doing your test. So eventhough they're meant to stamp the top page I don't think it really affects you, but they don't have to stamp the lessons at the back of the book anymore.

My instructor didn't upload my lessons each time we did one, he used to do them in batches, again it's not that important, once all 12 are uploaded before you apply for your test.

If you have concerns about the instructor, change to a different one, but if it was me I'd be more worried about the level of tuition I'm getting rather than the logbook. If this guy is a good instructor stick with him, if not change

    Be calm and breathe :)

They often upload the EDT lessons in batches, so that's nothing to worry about yet.

Instructors deal with loads of people. Names will come in time.

    Hey guys,
    Cheers for the reply!
Maybe you's are right but at the end of the day, they have to stamp your log book at the end of each lesson. It says so on the RSA website.

My lessons were on Friday afternoon and it's nearly Wednesday now and he still hasn't uploaded my lessons onto the RSA website.

I want to change instructors but I feel like I can't until I get him to stamp my logbook and upload my lessons :(

You do realise there is no reason for him to upload them immediately: they have no impact on anything until all twelve are completed.

I think you're being a little paniced unessecarily. At the end of the day, it's your desicion as you are paying, but it does seem to me that you might be jumping the gun. Like greyc said, focus on how well the instructor is teaching you as that's what is important, not whether they upload your EDT within 24 hours.

My instructor stopped stamping my logbook about halfway through the EDTs because it swapped to an entirely online system (though he still filled out the comment sections etc). He uploaded everyone's EDTs online once a week. No need to panic about it!

If after the second lesson your guy still hasn't uploaded anything though I'd be slightly concerned. My brother got messed around by an instructor who was very unorganized and "lost" 2 of his EDTs which were never uploaded despite multiple phone calls/texts trying to sort it out. Eventually he swapped to a different instructor and had to redo those lessons.

I myself log lessons about once every ten days . I am an Instructor.
Might be beneficial to realise that the lessons must be logged from a computer that has a security certificate installed..
They cant be logged from smartphones etc.
Sometimes we start work at 8 am and finish at 9 pm.
Chill out op .. Give the guy a chance .
He could have been working late all week and just hasnt had a chance to get to his home computer.
