I hope I've posted this in the right place. We are having our daughter baptised this weekend, but I've not been to a christening for a number of years (she's the first of the next generation). Are we expected to get gifts for the godparents? I don't know what's usually expected.
    Thanks.

Is it a Roman Catholic baptism?

Hi lherbert - firstly congratulations! Also, there is no 'set' thing as far as presents are concerned. I have two little ones and I didn't get their God Parent's presents when mine where baptised, in fact the God Parents gave small religious tokens, the 'Candle' etc to my little ones that day.

It's really up to yourself what you do I think to mark the occasion with your family. We decided to bring the family out for a meal afterwards - inexpensive carvery and sectioned off area of a hotel. It was pleasant and was a celebration of 'family' and it's newest member...:) You don't have to do that either however - I think anything goes, it's up to yourself whether you would like to give a gift or anything like that....

Hope you enjoy the day! God bless.

Great, thanks for that reassurance. We have a family meal already organised, so glad to know that should be sufficient. I might also just send a couple of thank you cards from our daughter to her god parents. They would like that.
    Thanks again for the reply.
