JSB to JSA Delay - Normal?

    Hi all,

My JSB ran out last week, but I had all the documentation for JSA in since May.

I'm told my JSA is still being reviewed and could take up to 12 weeks, is this normal? There's no issues with my JSA application (from what Social can tell), just that there's a huge backlog.

I'm applying to the CWO for Income Supplement in the meantime - but I'm rather annoyed as I'm suddenly left without money now that JSB ran out and JSA hasn't kicked in yet.

I'm presuming I'll get a letter when my JSA is approved? Is it something I need to keep chasing Social for, or do I just wait and let my application go through their system?

All sounds pretty normal and I wouldn't be worried, they should write to you when your means has been assessed and let you know.

Meantime your right to claim Supplementary Allowance from the CWO while your waiting for JSA, mind you can only have max savings of 5k to get full rate SWA where as with JSA you can have 20k.
