Job Seekers Allowance for wife?

So my wifes Job Seekers Benefit is up in a couple of weeks and we have been sent out a form for means testing for JSA.

I am trying to calculate if she will get anything but it is quite confusing!

Am I right in thinking that as a married couple, if we match or surpass 2xJSA in our weekly means that she isnt entitled to anything? Say for instance that JSA is €186 per week, if after calculating our means from my wages(full time employment) and any savings, our means is 2x €186 or above she wont be entitled to anything?

It seems that a very very modest wage from your spouse can disqualify you if this is the case.

No its different than that, there are a few posts here that give a full breakdown on how means are calculated but as a guide with no kids, if the partner is earning over 450 a week gross the will be very little or none jsa paid.

If a couple with 1 in full-time employment (no kids) earning 450 gross per week applied for JSA. They would come out with around 80 quid a week. In JSA terms, that's not little or nothing.

    income: 450
    less 60 euro disregards: 390
get 60% = 234 euro and that is roughly the means.

The means come off of 312.80 (188 +124.80)

    so, 312.80 JSA
    less means 234.00
    equals: 78.80

I have not allowed anything for union subscription or PRSI which are also disregarded in the means test so they could come out with more that 80 euro.

Please get your information right before telling somebody they are not going to qualify.
