Degree Results

Does anyone know if I can use this to up my grade. My University gave mebelow a first, and I cannot now get into a renowned college in America.

The thing is we were never ever told about the grades system for the degreeitself. All it says on the degree information website is your second year willbe combined with your final, if it is to the students advantage... This to meis not clear.

I received results, only from final year as they were a little higher thansecond. I thought along with everyone else for three years that the gradeswould be combined, say 6 of the best subjects from 2nd year and 5 from final orvise versa, I had even asked faculty and the above information in the brochurewas repeated. No caveats just will be combined.
My question after thinking thisfor 3 years is do I have an argument (not a case yet) to threaten them withjudicial review through legitimate expectation? My argument is if I had knownthey were only going to take from final year because it was higher, then Iwould have left my job, and stopped representing and volunteering for all sortsof uni events and causes.

I have never heard a university taking good results from one year and adding to good results from other year to get a result.

The only way I have heard is an aggregate result from all years, or from say the last year and second last year or just final year. Your degree seems to add another option if your second last year was better than your last year then you can get the average of both years say in second last year you get 72 (a first) and in last year you get 69 (a 2:1) then by combining both results and getting average you get a 70.5 (a first).

To get any kind of clear answer you should gather all the course grading information you can get and speak to the Education officer in the SU.

You have graduated from GCD with a Nottingham Trent degree? Even a first is unlikely to get you into a prestigious US law School, especially, and forgive me for saying this, with your command of English (and fonts).

I assume its GCD because this is how they calculate your degree: 100% of third year unless 2nd year boosts the grade. Second year may only account for 30% of the total grade and is the entire second year - not cherry picking. GCD give out very, very few firsts and the ones that are awarded, are well deserved. Regardless a NT degree, even a first, isn't going to guarantee you a place at Yale.
