Golf in Liverpool?

Hi everyone. I'm about to move to Liverpool and I am just wondering if anyone knows anything about clubs in Liverpool or golf in England?

I will be living in Wirral so I will be near enough to Hoylake and Wallasey Golf Clubs. Hoylake isn't even on my radar, Wallasey looks like a gem but I have no idea on membership costs but I do know that membership is available. Does anybody know any clubs in the area that are a good course and competitive clubs but at a decent price, Under £800 a year would be ideal.

Also what are the club competitions in England? What is there equivalent of the Junior or Senior Cup?

I used to be up in and around the neck of the woods many a time over the years as I had family in the Birkenhead area.

We used to play out of Heswall Golf Club as the uncle was a member there. Course was always in very good shape throughout the year, a really nice layout with a good mix of holes. Wouldn't be sure on membership prices though, but yeah, always enjoyed playing there.

Seems like they are doing some deals and a nice track from what I hear..

My mate is in Hoylake (he was a scratch junior and was in College there and stayed) yearly fees seem very reasonable

I live over here and joined a society through the other halfs father.. Society golf is a lot bigger over here than back at home. There is also a lot more municipals ,such as brackenwood, arrowe park, Ellesmere port plus a few more and that's just on the wirral, all reasonably priced about £15 a round. Malkins bank just south of Chester is a really good course and annual membership is around 500.

If you are living near Wallasey then that's a no-brainer. By far the best course in the area aside fro Hoylake and I'm guessing it is relatively reasonable.

Ye it looks like a cracking course, I have contacted them already so hopefully I hear back soon.

I'm surprised membership is even available at Wallasey. The course looks amazing. Although the fees aren't listed on the website I'd say they would be slightly over the grand mark.

Looking on google maps Liverpool looks densely populated with golf courses, you won't have any problem finding a good course.
