It's crazy to think I originally set this account up two years ago to ask about a Celica for a first car!

Anyway I'm very close to actually getting my first car, finally! I'm 25 and mother of a toddler so I want something 5 door, under 2 grand, cheap to run, cheainsurfixede and reliable!
I don't really care about anything else.
Would I be right in thinking a micra would fit the bill?

    Yeah it should.
I have a 2003 March (same thing as a micra just a few different parts) and it is still going strong. Just bring it in for yearly service.
You see a lot of micras still on the road, just make sure the car has been maintained properly.
How long the gas lasts depends on your driving style but it seems to do well.

If you can afford one I'd choose a Yaris over a Micra every time.

    micra, micra, micra

ideal first time car, easy to drive and bulletproof ..........thats why so many car driving schools use them

Micras may be bulletproof but not very rust proof. My missus had 2 that rusted to bits. The yaris is more powerful, bigger cabin, better searing position, safer and just nicer. Boot on micra is bigger alright.

2k wil get you a minty 00 yaris or a newer micra.

I'd also look at a honda jazz this looks decent for a little more than €2k

as has been said a yaris is the way to go. the bulletproof micras are too old to consider due to rust issues and the newer 03+ micras arent that good tbh. A good yaris should serve you well for many years to come.
